Rumen Nechev was born in 1959 in Smolyan. In 1978 he graduated from the High School of Arts in Kazanlak and in 1986 he graduated from the "St. St. Cyril and Methodius” University in Veliko Tarnovo, majoring in Graphics, in the class of Prof. Hristo Tsatsinov. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, as well as the Union of the Pazardzhik and Plovdiv Artists. Rumen Nechev has over 30 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, as well as participation in a number of international projects, biennials (Istanbul, Beijing, Sapporo, Saint Niklas, Varna, etc.) and triennials of graphics (Bangkok, Kanagawa, Belgrade, Sofia and etc.). He has won over 20 different prestigious awards for his work, some of which are Second Prize and Silver Plaque at the Sixth International Biennial of Graphics, Varna (1991), First Prize of the Biennale of Small Forms, Pleven (2002), First Prize for schedule of the International Biennale of Humor and Satire of the Arts, Gabrovo (2003), Award of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius” at the XII International Biennial of Graphics, Varna (2003), Graphic Prize at the Friends of the Sea Biennale, Burgas (2012), Honorary Prize for Graphics at the International Symposium “Oscar Kokoshka”, Austria (2012), Award of Plovdiv city for fine arts (2013), Regional award "Allianz - Bulgaria" for graphics (2014) and others. His artworks are owned by the National Art Gallery - Sofia, City Art Galleries in Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Pazardzhik, Helmut Müller Collection - Germany, Graphic Cabinet Auerbach - Germany, Graphic Cabinet of the Assotiation of Plovdiv Artists, Graphic Cabinet of the Assotiation of Burgas Artists, Graphic cabinet at the International Biennial of Graphic Arts - Varna, Steiner Graphic Collection, Batschteben, Germany, exlibris collections (Belgrade, Pescara, Sint Niklaas, Ankara, Beijing), as well as private collections in Bulgaria and abroad. He lives and works in Plovdiv.
