Yanko Marinov was born in 1907 in the Kilifarevo, Bulgaria. In 1931 he emigrated to the USSR. He graduated from the Odessa Art School (1933 - 1939) and entered the Leningrad Academy of Arts. In 1944 he returned to Bulgaria and settled in Varna. He worked in the field of painting and created remarkable works of landscape paintings. He is a member of UBA and creative secretary of the association of artists in Varna. Yanko Marinov is the first curator of the Art Gallery in Varna. He has over 30 solo exhibitions. His works have been presented in Germany, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Hungary, Finland, Ukraine, Russia and other countries. He has received 15 awards for his participation in exhibitions in Italy, as well as the Varna Award for 1997. Through the National Donation Fund "13th Century Bulgaria" he made a large donation of paintings to his native village Kilifarevo. He is the author of 2 books. He died in Varna in 2001.
