On November 27, 2023, Largo Gallery will celebrate 15 years since its establishment with a large collective exhibition. The exposition is under the motto "Zone of contact", because the main mission and meaning of the gallery's existence is precisely this - to be the place where artists and their works can reach the hearts, minds and eyes of connoisseurs, people experiencing a need for continuous contact with art. From its establishment in November 2008 until today, Largo Gallery has not closed its doors for any reason and has not interrupted its activities. For these 15 years, the gallery has organized 251 solo and collective exhibitions in its space and 40 exhibitions in other spaces. They present more than 900 authors from the country and abroad and more than 9,500 works of art - paintings, graphics, sculptures, mosaics, ceramics, photography, etc.
Largo Gallery pays particular attention to projects with long-term development that contribute to the creation of a sustainable audience, its development and attachment to cultural events. The gallery is the founder and, until 2021, the main organizer of the International Exlibris Competition Varna. In the five editions of the biennial from 2014 until now, more than 750 authors from 48 countries from all over the world have participated, and at the moment the competition has earned a name as one of the most prestigious events of its kind in Europe.
In addition to 22 exhibitions in the halls of the Largo Gallery, this year its team and that of the Jordan Petkov Art Foundation - a foundation founded in the name of one of the creators of the gallery - carried out 7 different innovative projects supported by the Culture Fund of the Municipality of Varna and the National Culture Fund, as well as from various institutional partners and private sponsors.
The projects were presented to the Varna audience and in various cities in the country and abroad:
"The world needs the young" - an exhibition of digital drawings with augmented reality, together with the Tarnovo art group Co-Interaction;
Fifth International Exlibris Competition Varna, which was also a guest at the XXII International Biennale of Graphics in August in City Art Gallery-Varna;
"Opera - musical painting", a joint project with the Italian Consulate in Varna, presented in Balchik, Varna, Sofia and Rome-Italy;
"Practical training for young cultural managers", together with ReBonkers, aimed at young people in Varna;
"Night of the Museums and Galleries" in May and "Night of the Galleries" in September, jointly with the Taliana Association
"Varna Art Map" - paper and online map of the museums, galleries and spaces for contemporary art in Varna, jointly with "Taliana" Association;
Publication of Lora Marinova's book "Memorial Plaque", dedicated to her father, the famous Bulgarian artist Yanko Marinov.
For 15 years, we have managed to create a loyal gallery audience that attends our events in Varna, but also one that follows us virtually and looks forward to our events with joy. For which we humbly thank her. Two are the most important, priceless assets of a gallery - its artists and its audience. And for us, the no less important role remains - to be a Zone of contact.
We are waiting for you at the opening on November 27, 2023, from 18:30 at the Largo Art Gallery, Varna, 8 Han Krum Street. The exhibition runs until January 20, 2024.
